Все они ориентированы на динамику психологической адаптации, применение профилактических программ и стратегий лечения.
Несмотря на то что консультирование в области психического здоровья является одной из самых молодых специальностей консультирования, оно оказало сильное воздействие на широкую публику и профессию консультирования. Начиная с середины 1970-х годов консультирование в области психического здоровья активно содействовало учреждениям психического здоровья, занимаясь профилактической работой, терапией, а также влияя на федеральное законодательство и законодательство штатов. Консультирование в области психического здоровья является важной частью профессии консультирования на всех уровнях. Эта область продолжает стремительно развиваться.
Лечение зависимости от психоактивных веществ также является важным направлением в консультировании. Употребление таких веществ, как алкоголь, табак и наркотики, оказывает вредное воздействие как на отдельного человека, так и на семью и на общество в целом. Работа консультантов с такими клиентами сводится к профилактике и лечению. Профилактическая работа может проводиться через образовательные программы, особенно в детской и молодежной среде. Программы лечения обычно больше предназначены для взрослых людей и осуществляются в форме систематических, духовно направленных групп, таких как группы <Анонимных алкоголиков>, а также в виде программ, проводимых профессионалами для тех, кто находится в тюрьмах или в лечебных заведениях.
Реабилитационное консультирование своей сосредоточенностью на профилактике и предоставлении услуг мало отличается от консультирования по вопросам психического здоровья и по проблемам зависимости от психоактивных веществ. Реабилитационные консультанты видят свою уникальность главным образом в своей направленности на помощь людям с инвалидностью и традиционно 6ыли привязаны к .медицинской модели. Их обучение и сертификация проходят аккредитацию CORE и CRCC вместо СА CREP и NBCC. Однако реабилитационное консультирование подобно другим видам консультирования в том, что в нем также выработаны программы и руководства, которым следуют в своей работе специалисты-практики, а многие из подходов, используемых реабилитационными консультантами, также используются консультантами по вопросам психического здоровья и по проблемам зависимости от психоактивных веществ. 3. Вместе с однокурсниками обсудите, какие социальные потребности, по вашему мнению, будут наиболее актуальными в следующем десятилетии. Опишите, как профессии реабилитационного консультирования, консультирования в области душевного здоровья и по вопросам зависимости от психоактивных веществ могут помочь облегчить эти проблемы. Попробуйте переформулировать ваши идеи применительно к определенным условиям, в которых вы надеетесь работать.
